Call to Prayer at all Masses Sunday October 5, 2008

September 29, 2008 12:59 pm

Bishop of the Diocese, Most Reverend Geoffrey Jarrett, has called for a special prayer to be included in the Prayers of the Faithful next Sunday October 5, in view of proposed Victorian Abortion Law Reform Bill. Bishop Jarrett said in his letter to all Parish Priests and Clergy of the Diocese: “Because this matter is a crucial one, I ask that all priests make mention of it as opportune during this week, and in, or at least at the conclusion of, the homily next Sunday, and arrange to include the following petition in the Prayer of the Faithful at each Mass.” For all expectant mothers and their unborn children. May our state and commonwealth parliaments resist the pressure seeking to legalise abortion, and protect human life from the moment of conception as the most fundamental of all rights. (Pause for silent prayer.. . . . . .) Let us pray to the Lord
