Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Bishop Christopher Prowse as the eighth Catholic Bishop of Sale. He succeeds Bishop Jeremiah Coffey who retired eighteen months ago. Resignation of Bishop Christopher Toohey

His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of the Most Rev. Christopher Toohey as Bishop of Wilcannia-Forbes, according to Canon 401 §2. Most Rev. Terence Brady, Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney, has been appointed Apostolic Administrator of Wilcannia-Forbes sede vacante and ad nutum Sanctae Sedis until the successor of Bishop Toohey will be appointed.
