The Catholic Education Office, Diocese of Lismore, announced today the amalgamation of Our Lady of Lourdes Infants’ School, Lismore with St Carthage’s Primary School, Lismore from the commencement of the 2012 school year.

From 2012, Our Lady of Lourdes Infants’ School will be named Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, St Carthage’s Primary School.
As a campus of St Carthage’s, Our Lady of Lourdes will still retain its special character and gain additional benefits through access to the resources a larger school can offer.

Director of Catholic Schools, Dr Anne Wenham said: “The amalgamation has significant educational and social benefits for the students on both sites. It also ensures the long-term viability of Our Lady of Lourdes as part of the educational commitment of the Parish.”

Under the new arrangements Our Lady of Lourdes will have a Campus Coordinator in a
leadership role, working closely with the Principal of St Carthage’s, Mrs Suzanne Nichols.
Appropriate teaching, educational and administrative resources will be deployed at Our Lady of Lourdes Campus as a result of the amalgamation.

Commenting on the amalgamation, Rev Fr Paul McDonald, Administrator – St Carthage’s Parish, Lismore said: “We are very pleased that this option has now been confirmed. It is a positive move and brings many benefits for the students and staff.”
